Boot Closet

Field gear lending for members of the Biology and EEOB communities.

The Brown University Herbarium is happy to host a boot lending closet for use by students in Biology and members of the EEOB community. Thanks to the Biology Undergraduate Education office for the generous funding to establish this closet!

Want to borrow boots for field work or a field course?

We have used, high-quality hiking and waterproof boots in a variety of sizes. Lending is first-come, first-serve. Boots can be borrowed for any amount of time and must be returned clean of caked-on dirt/mud, seeds, etc. To borrow boots or see what we have available, please email Herbarium Director Rebecca Kartzinel or herbarium@brown.edu.

Do you have boots you want to donate?

Help make fieldwork more accessible by donating your clean, used gear! Currently we are seeking used hiking boots and waterproof/muck boots in any size. Boots should be clean and in decent, usable condition. To donate, contact Rebecca Kartzinel.

Additional field safety gear is available for EEOB researchers

EEOB has green safety vests that identify the wearer as being affiliated with Brown and EEOB, as well as car magnets you can put on a vehicle to identify it as being affiliated with Brown and EEOB available to anyone affiliated with the department who is doing fieldwork. Both items have the Brown logo and name, the word “Researcher,” and the name of our department. These are kept in Walter Hall. Please see Derek Tavares to borrow this field safety equipment.
